How does a 1997 250 RM motocross bikes do about today?

I'm considering getting a used 1997 RM 250, but I do not know how well they face the Bicycle day if you try. I'm kind of a beginner so I know I will have enough power for me, but I'll take any chance if the race is. Im not going to be running competatively just for fun. At the beginning I wanted to say in racing, I'm fine with bikes.

Rebuild the top end, (Piston ring) pipe and you'll have plenty of energy. A level of racing today it is not all in the corridor of the bike. I have a by 250 and 450 and my 250 will run right with the 450 on the track, and good news for you this year, the AMA is allowing that 250 2 stroke to compete against the 250 four-stroke of good luck. And do not listen to the dumb ass who said that down the track I've run for local titles and this is why the AMA created different classes A, B, C and many more go into a C-class event and we have fun just about 1 percent of the runners make a career sees him enjoying life.
